On Sundays, from 5 August to 7 October, Curiosi di Natura propose “Pleasures of the Carso – Summer 2018”: ten walks to experience the nature, the culture and the gastronomy of well-known and less well-known localities of the Carso around Trieste and Gorizia.
As you take in the spectacular seascapes, woods and cultivated areas, the local environment and ecology are illustrated by our Curiosi di Natura guides, together with live readings of poetry, literature, history and culture.
The excursions are all slow-paced, along shaded paths, and are suitable for persons of all ages and fitness levels, in normal physical condition.
Also, every day until September 23, participants will be able to taste typical dishes at local restaurants at a discounted price. On signing up for the excursion, in fact, each participant will receive a 10% discount coupon valid for two persons at the “Sapori del Carso” restaurants.

5 AUGUST and 9 SEPTEMBER "From Trebiciano to Monte dei Pini" A walk on the plateau, through the cool pine and broadleaf woods as far as the meadows of the Slovenian Karst with their bright-coloured summer flowers. With views of the Julian Alps and upland Carso.
Meeting venue: main square in Trebiciano (Saint Andrew’s Church). Bus n. 39 from Trieste.

12 AUGUST and 16 SEPTEMBER "From San Martino del Carso to Mount San Michele" Through the woods, among the trenches, galleries and fortifications from WWI. From the monumental area of S. MIchele the view spans over the plain, the Isonzo river, the gulf and the Carso plateau. With live historical readings.
Meeting venue: Piazza della Fontana, San Martino del Carso (Sagrado).

19 AUGUST and 23 SEPTEMBER "From Santa Croce to Vedetta Slataper" Along the rim of the plateau, amid pine trees, oaks and Mediterranean vegetation. The clearings and the Slataper lookout tower offer spectacular views of the Carso, Miramare and the gulf. With live readings about Trieste’s past.
Meeting venue: Santa Croce, Provincial road n. 1, at the junction for Bristie. Bus n. 44 from Trieste.

26 AUGUST and 30 SEPTEMBER "Along the Strada Napoleonica at sunset" A walk in the woods of the Carso looking out over Trieste at sunset; with views of the sea, the city and its sights. With themed readings. To discover nature and history with new eyes, while walking along one of Trieste’s most popular trails.
Meeting venue: Opicina Obelisk. Buses n. 2 and 4 from Trieste.

2 SEPTEMBER and 7 OCTOBER From Basovizza to Mount Cocusso (whole day) A slow-paced excursion across woods and grasslands up to the highest point of the Trieste Carso (672 m); with views spanning from the sea to Slovenia. Lunch at leisure (packed or at Mount Cocusso lodge). Return to Basovizza via a different route.
Meeting venue: Basovizza, start of the Ressel Trail. Bus n. 39 from Trieste.
