From 10 April to 11 June, Curiosi di Natura propose “Pleasures of the Carso – Spring 2023”: six walks to experience the nature, culture and gastronomy of well-known and less well-known localities of the Carso surrounding Trieste..
As you take in the spectacular seascapes, woods and cultivated areas, the local environment and ecology are illustrated by our Curiosi di Natura guides, together with live readings (in Italian) of poetry, literature, history and culture.
Initiative within the "Springtime Gentle Mobility" project promoted by Alleanza per la Mobilità Dolce (A.Mo.Do.) with the main Italian associations involved in gentle mobility.
The excursions are all slow-paced, along mainly flat paths, and are suitable for persons of all ages and fitness levels, in normal physical condition.
Also, every day, from April 11 until June 18, participants will be able to taste typical dishes at local restaurants at a discounted price. On signing up for the excursion, in fact, each participant will receive a 10% discount coupon valid for two persons at the “Sapori del Carso” restaurants.

EASTER MONDAY 10 APRIL "Along the ridge of the Carso, at Santa Croce" A scenic walk amidst spring flowers and karst rocks. Stop at the Vedetta Slataper lookout, with amazing views of the sea and Miramare Castle. With live readings.
Meeting venue: 9.10 am, Santa Croce (Trieste), Provincial road n. 1, at the junction for Bristie. Bus n. 44 from Trieste.

SUNDAY 23 APRIL "Basovizza to Draga S. Elia" EXCURSION CANCELED A walk across the panoramic plateau of Mount Stena. Return along the cycle/pedestrian path of Val Rosandra, featuring stunning rocky outcrops and spectacular views of the valley.
Meeting venue: 9.10 am, Foiba of Basovizza. Bus n. 51 to Basovizza centre, then a 10 min walk.

SUNDAY 30 APRIL "Basovizza to Monte Spaccato" Amidst pine forests, caves, dolinas, meadows with irises and daffodils in full bloom, and panoramic views of Trieste. With themed readings: Julius Kugy, Karel Capek...

SUNDAY 7 MAY "Samatorza to Monte San Leonardo" A hike up to the top of the mountain (400m) and the remains of an important prehistoric fortification and a small ancient church, with views taking in the entire Carso and the sea.
Meeting venue: 9.10 am, Provincial road n. 6, in the parking area at the junction for Ternova.

SUNDAY 21 MAY "Percedol to Zolla". From one of the deepest and most characteristic dolinas of the Carso to the spectacular outcrops of the “karren” limestone pavements between Opicina and Monrupino. With themed readings.
Meeting venue: 9.10 am, area in front of the entrance to the Percedol dolina, Provincial road n. 9 (Via di Monrupino). Bus n. 42

SUNDAY 11 JUNE "From Repen to the woods across the Slovenian border" Shady woods, cultivated dolinas and villages of the Carso. With extensive panoramic views of the Carso mountains.
