Every Sunday, from July 23 to September 24, Curiosi di Natura propose “Pleasures of the Carso – summer 2017”: ten walks to experience the nature, the culture and the gastronomy of well-known and less well-known localities of the Carso around Trieste and Gorizia.

As you take in the spectacular seascapes, woods and cultivated areas, the local environment and ecology are illustrated by our Curiosi di Natura guides, together with live readings of poetry, literature, history and culture.

The excursions are all slow-paced, along mainly flat and shaded paths, and are suitable for persons of all ages and fitness levels, in normal physical condition.

Also, every day until September 24, participants will be able to taste typical dishes at local restaurants at a discounted price. On signing up for the excursion, in fact, each participant will receive a 10% discount coupon valid for two persons at the “Sapori del Carso” restaurants.

SUNDAYS 23 JULY and 27 AUGUST “From San Dorligo della Valle to Prebenico”. Through woods and olive groves at the foot of Mount Carso, as far as Prebenico, a village perched high up on the ridge that overlooks Istria, the green valley of Noghere and the city of Trieste. With live readings.
Meeting venue: square in front of the Carabinieri Station in Dorligo Della Valle. Bus n. 41.

SUNDAYS 30 JULY and 3 SEPTEMBER “From Sgonico along the Gemina Road”. Along the flank of Mount Lanaro, on the Roman road that connected Aquileia to modern Ljubljana. A walk through the magical atmospheres of woods of ancient oaks, hazel trees and ferns, clearings with dry stone walls and views over the Gulf. With live readings.

SUNDAYS 6 AUGUST and 10 SEPTEMBER “From San Martino del Carso to Mount San Michele”. A walk through nature and history: woods, dolinas, trenches, galleries and sites of the Great War. With historical readings.

SUNDAYS 13 AUGUST and 17 SEPTEMBER “From Prosecco through the woods overlooking Miramare”. Along the Carso ridge, through pine and oak forests, across the karstic scree with its fragrant sage and winter savoury shrubs and clearings overlooking the beautiful Miramare promontory. With live readings.
Meeting venue: War Memorial (next to the pharmacy), Prosecco. Bus n. 42 and 44.

SUNDAYS 20 AUGUST and 24 SEPTEMBER “Above the Val Rosandra: from Basovizza to Mount Stena”. Through the woods and karstic grasslands offering spectacular views of the valley and its rockfaces, the sea and Istria.
